A CHARACTER-DRIVEN MUSIC GAME

Every Critter Brings a Sound

Beat Critters is an interactive rhythm game, music mixing game, and beat maker game built around animated performers. Choose from 24 members of the Neon Howlers, drag and drop up to seven onto the stage, and hear each character add a recognizable beat, melody, voice, effect, or extra color. This browser music game needs no instrument experience: if you can see the crew, you can understand the mix.

Each performer has two prototype loop variations. Rooftop introduces the core personality, while Neon Overdrive pushes the same musical role into a more energetic style. Combine contrasting families, leave space when the arrangement becomes crowded, and use stage position to shape the stereo field.

Made for Phones, Tablets, and Desktops

The interface is designed mobile-first while keeping all seven performers available on larger displays. Small screens use horizontal stage movement instead of shrinking characters until they lose personality. Central stage positions receive stronger visual emphasis, and the layout adapts controls for touch, mouse, narrow portrait screens, and wide desktop windows.

Editing mode keeps placement circles and style controls visible. Performance mode starts the on-stage cast, hides editor elements, and enlarges the characters in place with a smooth transition. Your arrangement remains intact when you return to editing.

Build Your First Mix

  1. Start with rhythm. Choose Koda or another beat performer to establish a clear pulse.
  2. Add direction. Place a melody such as Luna, then compare how it fits beside the beat.
  3. Create identity. Add a voice or effect, keeping every layer only when you can hear its purpose.
  4. Shape the stage. Move characters left or right for stereo balance, then switch to performance mode.

Learn by Listening, Not by Scoring

Beat Critters does not require one correct lineup. A sparse three-character groove can be as complete as a seven-performer show when every layer has a clear purpose. Character families provide guidance without turning creativity into a fixed recipe, and solo, mute, position, and style controls encourage players to compare ideas for themselves.

The website documents what is available today and labels future accounts, sharing, community tools, and video export as roadmap features. That distinction keeps the project understandable while the game, original release audio, safety systems, and save architecture continue to develop.
